DF65 Hull & Deck Stickers

Instructions on how to apply the sticker sets are available as a PDF here

Whilst we all love the DF65 for being such a great introduction to the sport of radio sailing we have found that as new fleets have grown people find themselves sailing other peoples boats which can become quite frustrating.

To this end some people have taken the time to repaint their black hull a different colour or even bought a replacement white hull and transferred the bits over and solved the problem that way. When swapping hulls will cost you over £50 and a paint job will take days to do correctly we decided that the issue of hull colour needed some thought so we fired up the kettle, made a brew and got thinking.

After much head scratching, lots of research, many sheets of vinyl and plenty of tea we have come up with an elegant and pocket friendly solution to the problem which allows you to change the colour of your boat from black to any one of 24 colours in less than ten minutes without any mess at all.

Best of all if you get bored with the colour you can swap it out for the next race meeting.

So here they are, full length hull and deck sticker sets!

Hull and deck stickers ready to go! DF65 V6 and DF95

Each set comes on an easy peel sheet and comprises of at least six stickers plus an instruction sheet so you get the job done correctly first time round.

The deck sticker has all the cut outs for deck fittings and hatches so that you can apply it easily and without any bother. A little care needs to be taken around the battery hatch when applying the sticker but it can easily be done by even the most ham fisted of people like me!

We have tried our own very sticky deck patches, available here, on top of the deck sticker and we have had no issues in removing them and re-applying new patches on top of the sticker. Although a little care is required when doing this there is enough contact area around the hatches to keep the patches stuck to the original deck in all but one area on the inside of the battery hatch.

The hull sticker is designed to fit snug up to the bow bumper and takes in all of the topside area from waterline to deck edge and is, again, easy to apply. If applying to a later spec boat with the removable decals then we recommend that these are removed before applying your hull stickers for a better looking finish.

Check out the pictures below and when you realise that you really should have a set please drop us an email and we'll sort you a set or two out.

Ever mindful that people crave something a little bit different for their boat we have decided to offer a range of colour options that give enough choice for everyone to realise their own colour schemes without too much hassle.

As you can see from the photo below we are able to offer 11 different colours but rather than just offering a gloss sticker we are able to offer each colour in a matt finish also which reduces glare on the water and to be honest looks pretty sharp too.

We can also offer a carbon finish sticker (far right of the picture) as well as matt black, which again looks pretty cool. This gives you 24 colour options. If you cannot see the colour that you want get in touch and tell us what you'd like, if we can get it, we can do it!

What colour will you choose?

Please note the actual colours may vary a little to those shown above.

Well you'll want to know how your boat will look when you've applied the stickers so here we are, a few of our stickers to give you an idea.

So we have just come out of a bonkers busy couple of weeks here at the yard, the weather was pretty good for the late may bank holiday weekend and the following half term week, lots of boating was done and lots of happy customers used the yard. Talking of the yard we've deposited 80ish tons of nice clean gravel in all those areas that needed it and we now have a nice clean and tidy yard.

We've also spent a bit of time helping one of our customers get his boat over to Portugal by putting it in the back of a truck with the help of the guys down at Idealboat in Pwllheli and their monster forklift. The weather wasn't great, in fact it was terrible, but we did it.

Bank Holiday Incoming! Without actually doing a Timcast it looks like the Early birds on Saturday will get some boating in, Sunday looks like a windy pub day and Monday looks reasonable at the moment. It looks mainly dry for the duration which is good news.

Happy New Season! Yet again we've been super busy with everything apart from the website, hopefully we are now able to find a little more time to make regular updates to the site during the coming season which got underway in late March. The Yard is once again full for the 2017 season with a mix of old and new customers. Here's hoping we have a great boating season and who knows there might even be a Timcast or two! Tim is back at the yard full time and you can call him on 01758 713900 or email him.

Contacting us is as easy as mailing Tim or calling the yard on 01758 713900
